The holiday break is almost here!

Tomorrow (12/20) is ugly sweater day at LSS if your child would like to participate. We will also have our class holiday breakfast tomorrow around 9:15. All are welcome to join!! Thank you to all who have volunteered to donate items! I truly appreciate all your support. 

Thursday (12/21) we will have our class auction. Students will get to bid on prizes of their choice with their hard earned marbles. 

Friday(12/22) is hat day! If your child would like to donate a quarter (or more) to the Exeter Chamber Children's Fund they may wear a hat all day. 

Lastly, have a great holiday and much needed break!

December Happenings

We are almost halfway through the month! The weather is getting colder. Please remember to send your student with a jacket, hat, and gloves. The weather can change quickly throughout the day. Also, if you student would like to play in the snow they need snow pants and boots. If you need help securing these winter clothing items, please reach out! 

We are currently learning about Space in Science! We are researching our planets and deciding what planet we might live on if Earth was no longer inhabitable. 

In math we just completed our Unit 3 math assessment and are moving onto Unit 4. Please check with your student daily to ensure they are completing their math homework. Math homework reinforces the skill we learned that day. Let me know if you have questions!

Students continue to have nightly spelling homework. Please check your students spelling list for the due date of homework as well as the test date. 

We are having a holiday breakfast on Wednesday December 20th. Check your email for a sign-up of items. All parents are welcome to join!!

Conference Are Coming

Conferences are coming! 1st quarter conferences are scheduled for Thursday, November 9th. I will be sending out a sign-up genius this week. 

Your student is writing to you every Friday in their Learning Wheel Journals. They love when you write back. If you haven't yet, please try and take a few moments each week to write back to them!

Please work with your student to ensure that they are secure in their addition and subtraction facts to 20. Fact fluency for addition and subtraction is important as we move onto multiplication and division.

Homework

We are now in the full swing of homework. Please look for your child to have nightly math homework. This is an extension of that days lesson. The students will not have any new material as homework. Occasionally, if we did not have a full math lesson students may bring home math fact practice or practice on previously learned skills. If you questions about math homework please let me know! 

Spelling homework is a bit different. Spelling is aligned with our reading program that runs typically 6-7 days. Your child will have a spelling pretest and based on the pretest score, they will be placed on the most appropriate list. This list will come home in their blue home-school folder. There will always be the test date in the upper right hand corner. This date also indicates the date that spelling homework is due. While spelling homework should be a nightly activity, your child will need to manage the 4 required activities and the due date.
