October News

Hello families,

Happy Friday! I hope you are doing well and that your house did not sustain too much damage from Wednesday night's storm. We have been busy working regardless of the early release and delayed opening. It is hard to believe that we are nearing the end of the first quarter of school.

Conferences
Please follow this link to sign up for a November conference. If you do not see a time that works for you please reach out and let me know. I can generally be flexible with my time. Grades close on Friday, October 25th and report cards will go home on Friday, November 1st.

Cornstalk Characters
I cannot wait to see all the characters you have created at home! This is always such a fun, community event.

Field Trips
We have two upcoming field trips. The first is to St.Vincent de Paul. Thank you to all those that have sent back permissions slips and donations for us to bring to the food pantry. Your generosity is appreciated! There is still time if you would like to send in an item for us to donate to the food pantry. They are looking for any of the following items:

deodorant             tea
soap                     canned beef stew
baked beans        coffee
cookies                crackers
boxed pasta         snacks (granola bars, peanut butter crackers, fruit cups, etc.)

No donation is too small!

The second field trip is to Legoland and the permission slip is coming home today.

Spelling News
After several weeks of spelling, we have decided to change the timing of our spelling pretest and posttest. The students have been doing well with our Journeys stories and we do not think that we need the full two weeks to complete a story. Look for more information when the next pretest goes home.

I have truly enjoyed getting to know your child these first months of school and I look forward to the rest of the year.

I cannot believe we have reached the end of another school year! Spend timing reading, playing outside, swimming, hiking, or whatever it is you love to do when you are not in school. I cannot wait to see you next year as fourth graders!
